Forty players turned out for the Farmington Open Chess Tournament played on October 14, 2023 at the Farmington Community Center. The event offered three sections of US Chess rated play. Here is the tournament report from the Franklin Journal with results and crosstables. Thanks to all who organized, directed, and participated in this tournament.

A partnership with the Cobscook Institute in Lubec, Maine has resulted in two new chess tournaments being added to the Maine chess event calendar. The tournaments are scheduled to take place on Monday, January 15, 2024 (MLK Jr. Day) and Saturday, February 10, 2024. Our sincere gratitude is extended to the Cobscook Institute and, in particular, Programs and Communications Coordinator Beana Hopkins for their enthusiastic support for creating opportunities and building a strong chess community in Downeast Maine.
