Bangor City Championship Tournament Report

November 24, 2019

A new event on the Maine chess tournament calendar, the Bangor City Championship organized and directed by Maine Chess Association Secretary Wyatt Hendrix, attracted twenty-five players in one section. A four-way tie for first place resulted between Hendrix, Benjamin Mock, Tommy Owen, and Tristan Cousineau. Here are the full results, images from the day and US Chess crosstables.

Fall Chess @ UMA Tournament Report

Bold.org Offers $1,000 One Move Ahead Chess Scholarship

Bold.org, an online student scholarship platform where anyone can create a customized scholarship, fellowship, or grant, has created a $1,000 One Move Ahead Chess Scholarship available to Maine students. Dror Liebenthal the co-founder and CEO of Bold.org writes, "We are awarding $1,000 in scholarship funding to chess players at any education level whose experience playing chess has influenced their life/career goals in some way."

MECA Executive Board Director Nominations Wanted

The Maine Chess Association is seeking nominations for the position of Executive Board Director. Please help us promote chess in Maine and beyond by considering serving the Maine Chess Association as an Executive Board Director. The primary responsibilities of the one-year Director positions are to attend online MECA meetings, work for the success of MECA programs, and represent MECA members.
