Chess Champs Documentary Screening in Deer Isle

A documentary film that features coach Dick Powell and follows the 2012-2013 season of the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners chess team will be shown at the Reach Performing Arts Center (249 North Deer Isle Road) in Deer Isle, Maine at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9th. Will Ravn Wins George Cunningham Brilliancy Prize

The George Cunningham Brilliancy Prize was established to recognize and reward games that are both aesthetically pleasing and technically interesting. Soon after the Prize's inception, a generous donor contributed a significant amount of capital to reward the player of the brilliant game with a $100 check. After poring over games submitted to ChessMaine.net, our crack GCBP Committee has selected Will Ravn's game vs International Master David Vigorito, played at the Saco Open on July 9, 2016, as the winner for this quarter.

Quasi Quick Chess Quads at Saco Valley Chess Club

August 14, 2016

Sixteen players nicely rounded out four quads in the Quasi Quick Chess Quads played at the Saco Valley Chess Club in Biddeford on August 9th, 2016. The quad winners were: Matthew Fishbein, Barry Magda, Jon Malev, and Nathan Dunn. The time control for this three-round event was Game in 15 minutes with a 10 second delay from move one.
