Bob Solinger Memorial Tournament Report

January 7, 2019

A whopping eighty-one players turned out for Maine's first US Chess rated tournament of 2019. The Bob Solinger Memorial Tournament held at John Bapst High School on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 offered five sections: Open, U1600, U1200, U800, and U400. This tournament attracted a near-record number of participants in a non-state scholastic championship tournament. The record of 104 players is still held by the 2000 St. Mary's Winter Warm-Up. BIS #14 Tournament Report

The fourteenth edition of the Bapst Impromptu Swiss Tournament took place at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor on Thursday, December 22, 2018. The three-round, G/25, d5 tournament attracted eleven players. Wyatt Hendrix took clear first with an unbeaten and untied 3.0 points. Trailing the leader were Ben Amar and Nathan Gates who shared second with 2.5 points apiece. Here's the illustrated tournament report with U.S. Chess crosstable.

Nutcracker Blitz Tournament Report

The inaugural edition of the Nutcracker Blitz tournament, hosted by the Bonny Eagle Chess Club, was held on Saturday, December 15th at Snickerdoodle's Café in Limington, Maine and attracted XX players. The event featured two sections and seven rounds of Game-in-5-minute chess with no delay. Wyatt Hendrix Runs the Table at Friday Night Blitz

Wyatt Hendrix turned in an impressive performance by leveling the competition at the Friday Night Blitz tournament in Bangor with ten wins without a single loss or draw. Six players competed in the Game in 5 minute event with no delay or increment hosted by John Bapst Memorial High School on Friday, December 7, 2018. Ben Mock was two points off the break-neck pace of the winner scoring 8.0 points.

14th Annual Aurora Winter Solstice Tournament Report
