ChessMaine.net Championship June 28th--Don't Miss It!

The 2nd Annual ChessMaine.net Championship will be played at Colby College in Waterville on Saturday, June 28, 2008. A $400 prize fund based on 30 entries has been established with $100 going to the winner and $50 to first in each section A-E and U1000. Check out the roster of confirmed players and look over the registration material. It's not too late to register!

WCCF June Swiss Tournament Report

Roger Morin scored a perfect 4.0 points in four rounds to win the WCCF June Swiss played in Trescott, Maine on June 14, 2008. Close behind were Hoty Briggs with 3.0 points and Mike McCabe with 2.5. Here's the illustrated report with USCF Crosstable and a selected game.

No chess experience is necessary to participate in this silly, loud, and crazy game. We need you to play a chess piece. You will not be required to make decisions but if you can shout and cheer loudly and/or can "die" dramatically we need you.

Mainers in USCF Top 100 Lists

June 6, 2008

Maine has four scholastic players in the USCF Top 100 Lists for June 2008. Lucas McCain (1816), Fritz Eyerer (1791), Matthew Fishbein (1363) and Margaret Bryan (1360) each cracked the list of the top 100 rated players in the nation for their age group.

Chess Instruction at the Huse School

June 4, 2008

The Adventures at Huse project is an overall effort of the Sagadahoc Commununity Justice Project in partnership with the Bath School Department to facilitate out-of-school activities for youth and families. These programs are held at the Huse School on 39 Andrews Street in Bath. This Saturday, June 7, 2008 Chess instructor Sean Donovan will be giving a chess workshop for all ages.
