USCF-Rated Chess is back in Washington County! Come Play on 2/11/17!
01.28.17 It's been over eight years since a USCF-rated tournament has been held in Washington County, Maine. The last was the St. Croix Valley International on August 16, 2008. That long dry spell is about to end. ChessMaine.net has teamed up with Fort O'Brien School in Machiasport to organize a five-section rated tournament with the same format as the very successful Aurora Winter Solstice tournaments (now entering their thirteenth year).

First Round will start at 9:15 a.m. subsequent rounds will start as soon as possible. Please bring boards, sets, and clocks.
Breakfast and Lunch consessions on site!
Five Sections: (All sections will use digital clocks with 5 sec. delay if available.)
Open: 3 Round, G/60
U1600: 3 Round, G/60
U1200: 4 Round, G/45
U800 & Unrated: 4 Round, G/30
U400 & Unrated (scholastic only): 4 Round, G/30
All sections are rated and require USCF membership (available at site or at www.uschess.org). One half-point bye available. Must commit before round two.
Advance Entry Fee (if received by 2/10): $10 (U400 & Unrated, U800 & Unrated, U1200, U1600); $15 (Open); Same Day Entry Fee (8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.) add $5.
Prizes:
U400 & Unrated: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, medals to all participants
U800 & Unrated: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
U1200: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
U1600: First $24, Second $16

If weather's OK I plan on taking the scenic ride up, never been or even heard of machiasport. Hoping to play against some new opponents, looking forward to it.
