Sergio Mejia Sweeps Aurora Equinox Tournament

FIDE-rated player Sergio Mejia from Guatemala went 3-0 to win the open section of the Aurora Autumnal Equinox tournament played at the Airline Community School in Aurora on Saturday, September 27th, 2014. Twenty-five players in two sections competed in this Maine Chess Player of the Year event. In the U1200 section, John Bapst High School freshman Zack Grindal took first with 4-0 and Airline School's own Sean Neal won the top U600 prize with a 3-1 performance. Stillwater Montessori School Seeks Players and Volunteers

The Stillwater Montessori School in Orono is starting the new academic year with a call to chess players, parents and volunteers. MOFGA's Common Ground Country Fair

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association hosts its annual Common Ground Country Fair on the third weekend of September. MOFGA's flagship event attracts nearly 60,000 visitors each year and brings together so many people from so many walks of life, all in the spirit of celebrating the rural and agricultural traditions of Maine.
