Sunday Morning Chess in Portland

08.29.09 Most chess clubs meet in the evening. However, on a recent trip to Portland, we strolled into a chess club that meets on Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Works Bakery and Cafe. It was delightful to sip a hot morning beverage and play a few offhand games in the well-lit, spacious surroundings.

The street view of The Works Bakery and Cafe in Portland doesn't let on that there's great chess action happening just inside.
