Does Chess Make Kids Smart?
02.08.07 A number of researchers certainly think so. With this year's state scholastic championships rapidly approaching (see events page for more details) we direct you to the United States Chess Federation Chess in Education Committee research website. This site has literally hundreds of pages of research pointing towards what all chess coaches already know: chess is a powerful educational tool. Please feel free to share this information with school administrators in support of establishing scholastic chess programs or continuing programs already in existence.

I was disappointed that the tournament was not cancelled due to snow, since being so far south we could not travel to your area on Friday afternoon/evening due to the weather and we are too far away to make it in the AM. If tournaments are not local in nature more consideration should be given for advance notice.
