National Jelly Bean Tournament Report

05/10/26 Forty chess players turned out for our final chess tournament of the season (and also helped us celebrate National Jelly Bean Day) on April 22nd at the Jesup Memorial Library! There were surprising upsets, some squeakers on time, and a whole lot of fun and jelly beans!

A tense match at the National Jelly Bean Day Tournament played at the Jessup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor draws a crowd of onlookers.

Thanks to Dan Monahan for contributing to this report.

And thanks to everyone who came out to or helped organize a Hancock County chess tournament over the past year and to folks who organized local chess clubs. Together we are building a chess community in Hancock County and we hope to do more next year, starting in the Fall. If you want to volunteer or have any ideas please drop us a line. In the meantime, have a great summer!

Thanks to all who participated!
