Maine Scholastic Individual Championships Tournament Report

06.14.24 On March 30th, 2024, the long-awaited Maine Scholastic Individuals Championship took place at Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Maine. After many hard-fought battles, Gabriel Eaton took home first place with 4.5 / 5 points. Charlie Creswell was a close runner up with 4 / 5 points and received 2nd Place. Egeman Sari put up 3.5 / 5 for 3rd place. Here is the illustrated tournament report with US Chess Crosstables.

Sixteen players competed in the High School Championship section of the Maine Scholastic Individual Chess Championships on March 30th. Gabriel Eaton finished with an impressive 4.5 / 5 result to take first place. Eaton played Charlie Creswell in the 4th round and ended the game with a surprise win. Creswell played excellently the entire tournament and ended with 4 / 5 point--a fantastic result. Egeman Sari earned 3rd place with his great result of 3.5 / 5 points only losing once to Eaton. Honorable Mention to Jonah Dean who tied for 3rd place with 3.5 / 5 points and took the fourth-place spot on tiebreaks. Jonah earned a whopping 191 rating points due to his outstanding performance so his effort wil be recognized. Congratulations to all players in the High School Championship section!

In the HS U1400 section, Kody Mcgregor got an almost perfect score of 3.5/4 points to take first. Sharing equal second place was Matthew Jadud and Hamdi Mohamed who finished with 3 / 4 points. Congratulations to all the U1400 players!

In the Middle School Championship section, Henry Shannon blanked the field with a staggering 5 / 5 points to take first. Derrick Johnson and Noah Evans were just off the leader's pace with 4 / 5 points and 3.5 / 5 points respectively.

In the K-5 Championship section, Theodore Reichl ended with an amazing performance of 4.5 / 5 points only drawing Jackson Boright in the first round. Emma Mazur and Boright were not far behind scoring 4 / 5 points and 3.5 / 5 points respectively.
