Rebecca Stanley and Molly Tefft Win Maine Women's and Girls' Chess Championships
02.18.24 Congratulations to Rebecca Stanley and Molly Teft who won the Maine Women's and Girls' Chess Championships played on Saturday February 10, 2024 at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Rebecca Stanley went four-for-four to win the 2024 Maine Womens' Chess Championship with a perfect score of 4.0 points. The tournament was played on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Congratulations Rebecca!
Molly Tefft won four games in a row to post an unbeaten and untied 4.0 points to become the 2024 Kathy Richards Maine Girls Champion. Tefft will receive an invitation to represent the state of Maine at the 12th Annual WIM Ruth Haring National Tournament of Girls State Champions scheduled to take place in Norfolk, Virginia on July 27-30, 2024.
Finishing equal second in this field with 2.0 points were: Lilly Tripp, Taylor, Murray, Allie Roy, and Anna Frentz.
In the K-6 section of the Girls' Championship, Mya Birchacek put up a perfect 4.0 points in as many games to take first. She was trailed by Emma Mazur and Charlotte Hancock each who scored 2.5 points.
