Dave Watson sailed up to Lubec--where he will be spending the better portion of the summer--from The Bahamas.

The set pictured belonged to Chris Crittenden's father. Chris is a member of the Lubec Chess Club who regaled us with stories of his dad, former North Carolina State Chess Champion Charles "Kit" Crittenden, who played a game with Bobby Fischer during one of Fischer's U.S. tours circa 1955. The set is a replica of the 1970's-era Dubrovnik Chess set, used in the 19th Chess Olympiad in Siegen, West Germany and made popular by the Fischer, who was often photographed playing with his own set.

See you in Lubec!
