Farmington Chess Club News & Happenings

07.09.23 Farmington Chess Club president Glenn Miller recently submitted an update of what's new at the Farmington Chess Club. There are lots of opportunities to play and events to take part in. If you are in the area, please stop by and visit the Farmington Chess Club at their new location The Roost at 187 Main Street in downtown Farmington Sundays from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Players enjoy some chess and great food at a meeting of the Farmington Chess Club at The Roost restaurant.

Thanks to Glenn Miller for contributing to this report.

Big Turnout at The Roost on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m.

Ten players joined us for only our second week playing at The Roost (187 Main St in downtown Farmington), for wings, adult beverages, and fighting chess. The staff treated us great and good times were had by all.

This instant success means we're adding this venue and time to the club's calendar for the foreseeable future, and it means we also have to drop Uno Mas from our calendar. Hope to see you at The Roost this Sunday!

Representing at Summerfest

Downtown Farmington celebrates Summerfest on Saturday, July 22, and the Farmington Chess Club will be there. I'll don the checkered vest and set up boards to play up to three "civilians" who care to hover for a game. We'll also have other boards with mate-in-one puzzles and chess info about the club and chess in Maine. Anybody who solves a puzzle or plays a game (win or lose) will get a prize!

You'll find our pavilion in the middle of Broadway, playing and promoting chess all day. Drop by to say hi or to help out!

Email Details

If you haven't already, I invite you to add farmingtonchessclub@gmail.com to your contact list. In the near future these weekly emails will come from that address and I wouldn't want you to miss any juicy chess news because it got shuffled off to your spam folder.

And if there's anyone else you feel would like to be included on this distro, drop me a note and I'll add them. Likewise, if this is too much clutter for your in-box, no worries - let me know and I'll take care of it pronto.

Until next time, see you at the club ... and I hope you win your next game (unless it's against me)!

Glenn Miller
