CALLS FOR COMMITTEE SERVICE
The Maine Chess Association is calling upon any interested members in good standing to assist the MECA Policy Board in charting a course for the future. In particular, the Maine Chess Association is looking for members to serve on the following committees:
The Scholastic Planning Committee will be responsible for planning and organizing the scholastic chess season. This includes forming a plan for the Scholastic Grand Prix, the Maine Scholastic Chess Championships, and any other scholastic initiatives the committee may like to pursue. The committee should recommend dates, venues, rules, and competition structures to the MECA Policy Board for approval, arrange for organizers and tournament directors, and facilitate bidding for scholastic tournaments to be held at schools across the state.
The Finance and Fundraising Committee will help form a financial plan for the Maine Chess Association to pursue for the next three to five years, contingent upon board approval. It should include recommendations for budgets and expenditures, fundraising sources to pursue, and any other financial courses of action that should be taken by the Association.
The Strategic Planning Committee will help form a strategic plan for the Association that charts an organizational course based on feedback from the Board and membership. This strategic plan should consist of specific, measurable goals that the Association should achieve in order to fulfill its mission of Connecting Mainers Through Chess and should serve as a roadmap for the Association. The Strategic Planning Committee should also recommend steps to achieve those goals in the form of action steps, initiatives, or events.
Members of these committees should have current MECA membership in good standing and be interested in beginning work by September 1, 2022. Please email Michael Dudley at mdudley@chessmaine.org to express interest or ask any questions!
