All Saints Winter Warm-Up Tournament Report

Eighty-four players competed in four US Chess rated sections at the All Saints Winter Warm-Up played at All Saints Catholic School in Bangor on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Winners were: Maximus Mclean and Derrick Johnson in the K-5 section, Isaac Klein in the K-8 section, Jacon Klein and Declan Thomas in the K-12 section, and Gabe Eaton in the Open section. Maine Scholastic Chess Team Championships Tournament Report

Two hundred fifty-two scholastic chess players turned out for the 2022 Maine Scholastic Chess Team Championships played at Lewiston High School on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Titles and trophies were awarded in five sections: High School Championship, High School Reserve, Middle School Championship, Elementary Championship, and Primary Championship.

MECA President Michael Dudley Awarded ICCF Correspondence Chess Expert Title

March 2, 2022

On February 28, 2022, MECA President Michael Dudley was awarded the title of Correspondence Chess Expert from the International Correspondence Chess Federation (ICCF). In order to receive this title, a player has to obtain two tournament norms in certain tournaments totaling at least 24 games, meeting a designated performance in each tournament. We extend our hearty congratulations!
