When asked, "How should one improve at chess?" former world champion Boris Spassky enthusiastically responded, "Play correspondence chess!" Thanks to opportunities created by the Maine Chess Association to play correspondence chess online, players have a chance to take GM Spassky's advice.
The 1st Maine Online Open contained a field that included three over-the-board Maine state champions: Wyatt Hendrix, Roger Morin, and tournament co-champion Ruben Babayan.
Trailing Babayan and DeLuca in first place were Steve Abrahams (expertizzy) and Stephen Morse (morsecoder) who finished equal second and Wyatt Hendrix (hendrixwmaine) in clear third.
