Maine Online High School Chess League Week 3 Report
01.31.21 Cape Elizabeth continues to dominate and has a chance to clinch the regulation play title in the Maine Online High School Chess League. Here's a league update as we head into Week 4.

Week 3 action saw Cape Elizabeth defeating the Bonny Eagle Scots, 8.5-1.5, with strong performances from Isaac Dinnerstein (2.0/2), Tyler Rodenberger (1.5/2), captain Marco Hansel (2.0/2), and Zoe Dinnerstein (2.0/2). Clara Parker and Max Matthews of Bonny Eagle split their match, and Kevin Lin notched a draw for the Scots to round out the crosstable.
John Bapst and Hampden Academy brought their match to the slimmest of winning margins, with the Crusaders eking out a slim victory, 5.5-4.5. Buoyed by two forfeit points, the Broncos saw a two-point sweep from Calvin White. The Crusaders countered with strong performances from John Hoang (2.0/2), Dakota Colson (2.0/2), and Peter Clark (1.5/2). Felix Moran ground out the draw with Clark to conclude Hampden's scoring.
Finally, Deer Isle-Stonington rallied back to form with an 8.5-1.5 victory over the Morse High School Shipbuilders. Jonah Brages (2.0/2), Mason Woodman (1.5/2), and Henry Penfold (1.0/2) combined with four forfeit points to lead Deer Isle-Stonington to victory. Zoe Brush (1.0/2) and Edward Crews (0.5/2) put points on the board for the Shipbuilders.
Week 4 is due to feature pivotal matches in the competition for one of four playoff spots and the chance to continue on to the league championships.
