Dinnerstein Siblings Represent Maine at National Scholastic Tournaments

10.27.20 The sibling duo Isaac and Zoe Dinnerstein represented Maine at two national scholastic tournaments played this summer. Isaac, Maine's 2020 High School Champion, was invited to the 36th Annual Denker National Tournament of High School State Champions and Zoe, Maine's 2020 Girls Runner-Up Champion, participated in the 8th Annual Haring National Tournament of Girls State Champions. Both tournaments were held online in July.

The Denker and Haring national chess tournaments bring together some of the strongest scholastic players in the nation.

In the Denker, top players such as Nicholas Checa (2644), Andrew Hong (2533), and Carissa Yip (2517)--these ratings are online ratings--made the competition extremely challenging.

Likewise in the Haring, the top three players had astronomical online ratings: Annie Wang (2457), Current U.S. Women's Champion Jennifer Yu (2397), and Martha Samadashvili (2340).

Isaac put up 1.5 points to tie for 40th place while Zoe scored 2.0 points and tied for 32nd place.

Isaac and Zoe deserve our hearty congratulations for entering the arena with such fierce competitors. They represented Maine well and enjoyed the experience of a lifetime competing with state and national chess champions.
