DMV Chess Upcoming Tournaments Calendar and Grand Prix Announcement

04.17.20 There are a number of scholastic chess events to be held online in order to comply with recommendations by public health officials. Maine scholastic chess players, please consider participation in the following tournaments.

We encourage you to take advantage of these and other online chess tournaments.

The Spring Scholastic Championship

Saturday, April 18 at 2 pm EDT
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this tournament will be held online rather than in person as originally planned.
Since this event has been moved to online, it will no longer be USCF-rated. Players will be competing for online rating points.
There will be four sections: K-3, K-5, K-8, and K-12.
The time control will be game in 25 minutes with a 5-second increment.
Trophies will be mailed to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each section.
10 DMV Chess Scholastic Grand Prix points will be awarded for participation. 1 Grand Prix point will be awarded for each victory.

The April Major Scholastic Tournament

Saturday, April 25 at 2 pm EDT
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this tournament will be held online rather than in person as originally planned.

There will be four sections: K-3, K-5, K-8, and K-12.
The time control will be game in 25 minutes with a 5-second increment.
