US Chess Crosstable of this event
Chess is spreading throughout the state, with more tournaments taking place in the south!
The Thomas Memorial Library in Cape Elizabeth has been hosting the Cape Elizabeth chess club during the past year with its comfortable conference rooms and quiet atmosphere. The club meets every Saturday from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. (you are invited!). The Library has opened its doors to larger crowds of chess enthusiasts, and this fall alone two chess tournaments have taken places there.
On Saturday, December 7th, forty-seven players from the region including a huge busload of players from the Boney Eagle chess club, players from Cape Elizabeth high school, middle school and elementary schools, local players from the Portland area, with several participants coming all the way from Augusta, Camden and Bangor participated in a late fall chess tournament, which included 3 Swiss sections (Open, U1200 and U800).
Winners from the sections were: Isaac Dinnerstein (3.0) from Cape Elizabeth with runner up Michael Dudley (2.5) in the open section.
Eric Dinnerstein won the U1200 section with Miles Kaplan (2.0) and Henry Abrahamsen (2.0) finishing equal second.
Dylan Miller-Barrett (3.0), Samuel Coldwell (3.0), and Joshua Barrett tied for first in the U800 section.
Thanks to all who participated, organized, directed, and volunteered for this event. Thanks also to Thomas Memorial Library for hosting.
