09.24.18 The 43rd Chess Olympiad began today in Batumi, Georgia. One hundred fifty teams, representing over one hundred eighty nations, are participating in each the Open and Women's sections. The United States is the defending champion in the Open section and is also the number-one seeded team with an average rating of 2777. The U.S. Women's team is seeded 10th in the Women's section with an average rating of 2382.
