Bapst Impromptu Swiss #9 Tournament Report

03.16.18 The 9th Bapst Impromptu Swiss tournament was held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor. These unique three-round Swisses with free entry fee are played on weeknight evenings in Bangor with a time control of G/25 d5. BIS #9 attracted 12 players and when the dust had cleared, Holbrook School 8th grader Benjamin Mock found himself at the top of the crosstable with a perfect 3.0 points.

US Chess crosstable of this event

Just off a four-straight-win performance at the State Scholastic Team Championships, Ben Mock put up three more games without a loss or a draw. He finished with 3.0 points and clear first place.

Four players tied for second place with 2.0 points apiece: Nathan Gates, Joshua Batstone, Levi Woodhead, and Tala Bayless.

There were also four players who put up 1.5 points and tied for equal sixth place. They were: Swaroop Handral, Michael Murphy, Glen Modrusan, and Matthew Goodwin.

Walker Bayless managed 1.0 point while Benjamin Deschesne and Shreyassu Handral rounded out the crosstable scoreless.
