Jarod Bryan Wins 2017 Maine Closed Championship

Jarod Bryan added another Maine State Championship title to his growing list of victories. He has won the tournament a total of eight times including three of the last four. Cruising through his first four games, he drew with Sergio Mejia in the last round to clinch the title. Mejia and Dan Hayes tied for Runner-Up with 4.0 points. In Memory: Authur Bisguier, October 8, 1929 - April 5, 2017

Another chess great has passed. We are saddened to report the death of Arthur Bisquier. Bisguier was U.S. Champion in 1954, three years before earning the title of Grandmaster. He defeated some of the game's greatest players including Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky, Sammy Reshevsky, Svetozar Gligoric, and Paul Keres. Among his most prominent victories was the 1973 Lone Pine International tournament in California. Our condolences to his family and friends.
