The Houlton Opens keep on coming! Our thanks to organizer and director Roger Morin for offering opportunities for USCF-rated tournaments in Aroostook county.

Alex Slive made the trek from Boston to participate in the tournament (That's a good five-hour trip one way.) and almost came out on top if not for a draw with Nathan Gates in round two and a round three loss to Ray Haines.

Behind the five equal firsts were Roger Hardison (1.0) and Leonardo Cui (0.5).

Players were able to enjoy many interesting pieces of art during the tournament.

Roger and others,
It was a pleasure to play chess way up in Aroostock County. I also got in a great day of hiking at Baxter State Park.
I hope to visit again!
Thanks,
Alex

I finally broke the 1700 barrier!!! Thanks Roger for hosting great challenging tournaments throughout the year, maybe you'll be up for the Brewer tourney again, or the fall quads which I haven't seen posted yet. Anyways, thanks!!!!!!
