Jarod Bryan Victorious at ChessMaine.net Championship
07.02.14 Jarod Bryan swept the field to take first in the Open section at the ChessMaine.net Championship played at Colby College in Waterville on Saturday, June 27th. Joe Powell, Frank Collemer, and Ben Amar shared the top spot in the U1550 section and Bill Hartt was all alone at the top of the U1250 section with a perfect 4.0 points in four games.

Trailing the current state champion in the Open section were: Matthew Fishbein, Roger Morin, and William Ravn each of whom put up 3.0 points to share second. In the 2.0 tier were Serjio Mejia, Phil Lowell, Curt Brock, and Bill Burtt.
Joe Powell, Frank Collemer, and Ben Amar shared first in the U1550 section. Just of the lead was Daniel Robbins with 2.0 points, Darrell Butler (1.0), and Lee Doucette (0.0).
Thirteen-year-old Bill Hartt took first in the (U1250 section) with 4.0 points. Dan Fishbein took second place with 3.0 points and Joseph Astumian, John Engle, Lev Leites, and John Jones shared third with 2.0 points. Roman Medina rounded out the table with 1.0 point.
Our youngest player in the tournament was Lev Leites (9) from New York City. He was complemented by two players in their 80's: Don Plummer and Glenn Snyder--chess is truly a life-long passion!
