Women's World Championship in Final Four

03.30.15 The Women's World Championship is underway in Sochi, Russia. The sixty-four player tournament has been culled to just four players. The top seeds have been eliminated as have the two American players Tatev Abrahamyan and Irina Krush. The four remaining players are: Pia Cramling (Sweeden), Natalija Pogonina (Russia), Dronavalli Harika (India), and Mariya Muzychuk (Ukraine).



The semi-finals begin at the Women's World Chess Championship in Socchi, Russia.

The 2015 FIDE Women's World Chess Championship takes place between March 16 - April 7 in Socchi, Russia.

The first five rounds were two-games matches played at 90 minutes for 40 moves then 30 minutes for the remainder of the game plus a 30-second increment. If necessary tiebreaks were played at 25 minutes with a 10-second increment.

The final match between the two winners of the semi-finals will consist of four games.

I did not think Pogonina would get that far. In fact, when she lost her first quarterfinal game as White, I assumed that would be it.

I figure she'll be the one to make it through.
