Adult Education Chess Class at Gardiner High School
09.26.10 Longtime chess player and instructor Barry Magda is teaching a nine-week chess class Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Gardiner High School. The class began on September 22nd and runs through November 17th. More students are needed so please pass the word and consider enrolling yourself. Course description:
15 MINUTES TO LEARN, A LIFETIME TO MASTER! Come sharpen up those brain cells and cultivate some deep thinking skills while playing one of civilizations oldest games. We will cover the very basics, guiding principles and the vocabulary of the game of chess. You will build skills such as recording games, finding and making logical moves, creating plans and analyzing positions. You will have ample time for games and individual practice as well as a tournament or two. First 5 classes will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Last 4 classes will be 6:30-9:00 p.m.
