The Problem Corner #6
This week's problem is White to move and draw from a 1941 study by Feiter. For this and subsequent problems we'll hold off on publishing comments for a while in order to give solvers a chance to "have a go" before a solution is posted.

White to move and draw.
(K. Feiter, 1941)
The Solution:
White draws by 1. g7! Re1+ (1. ... Re8 2. Bh7! and the rook will have to be given up after the pawn queens) 2. Bd1! (White gets mated after 2. Ka2? Be5!). Now 2. ... Rxd1+? 3. Kc2 and Black cannot prevent 4. g8=Q, so 2. ... Re8 3. Bh5! Rg8 4. Bf7 Rxg7 5. g6. The rook is imprisoned, and Black's bishop is on the wrong color (and incapable of delivering mate on its own). So it's a draw.

Cute problem. It did take me some 10 minutes to come up with the right idea.
1.g7 r-e1+
2.bd1 re8
3.bh5 rg8
4.bf7 rxg7
g6 locks in the rook.
