In Memoriam: Robert O. Jenkins
04.18.10 We are very saddened to report the passing of Robert Jenkins on April 16, 2010. Robert was a stalwart member of the Saco Valley Chess Club in Biddeford as well as an active tournament player. Former MECA Vice President Jon Malev said of Robert, "He was the finest of friends." He will be sorely missed. Our sincerest condolences to Robert's family and friends.

Robert Jenkins as many of us will remember him: creating over a chessboard.

Short and sweet; that and the photo would have satisfied Robert; there was an at home memorial and gathering yesterday afternoon; many fellow chess players were there...

Bob was a fierce competitor and a soft-spoken man. I had the pleasure of his opposition in OTB games and will never forget his devotion to the more offbeat openings--at which he was quite successful. He will be missed deeply.
