Maine Chess Association Tournament Survey 2010
12.26.09 MECA Secretary, Lee Doucette has put together a tournament survey to get a better understanding of the needs and wishes of Maine tournament chess players. Please take a moment to complete the survey and return it to Lee at lfdoucet@maine.rr.com. Thanks.

Both of the previous blogs have stated the reason I have donated trophies through Roger Morin. I still have all of mine from my days at the Univ of Maine and treasure them. However, most higher ranked players have achieved that level due to expenses incurred in studying books, videos, etc. Cash awards for the higher levels act as incentive to play and actually need to be increased. Neither trophies nor books are cheap, with prices anywhere from $15-50.00, and serious players would like to receive some compensation for their efforts.

I agree with John. I have been lucky enough to win a few (very few!) tournaments over the years and I feel like I would rather have a nice plaque or trophy to remember them by than the distant memories of an extra 50 bucks. Just my opinion, good luck with the survey!

I would like to see less money given out for first, and second, etc. and have trophys awarded.
