MECA Online Elections
01.10.08 We are proud to announce ChessMaine.net will host MECA Online Elections from January 10 - 13, 2008. Before voting in the MECA Online Elections, you must be a current MECA member (as of the dates of the elections) and you must register. You can become a MECA member or register to vote in the MECA Online Elections by providing the information requested below. You can also access this page by clicking on the MECA Online Elections link in the left-hand margin of any ChessMaine.net page. After you register, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the poll.

MECA Online Elections will take place from January 10 - 13, 2008.
To participate you must register to vote.
Registration is easy--on the form below just provide your name, MECA member number and e-mail address.

The Executive Board positions that will be up for election are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The Executive Board candidates are:
President: Phillip H. Lowell, Jr.
Vice President: Jonathan S. Malev
Secretary: Leroy F. Doucette
Treasurer: Raymond A. Duval
In addition, four Policy Board Director positions will also be up for election. (Voters will select four candidates.)
The Policy Board candidates are:
John Brady
Daniel DeLuca
Andrey Savov
Joseph Wrba
Article VII of the MECA Constitution describes the duties of Officers and Directors:
The President shall:
A. Act as the executive officer of MECA.
B. Plan and execute the programs of the MECA subject to the control and direction of the Policy Board.
C. Call and preside at all meetings of the membership and of the Policy Board.
D. Report annually to MECA members on the progress of MECA objectives and plans for the coming year.
E. Appoint committees to assist him or her in implementing MECA policy, and be an ex-officio member of all committees. Each committee shall consist of a chairman and additional MECA members.
The Vice President shall:
A. Assist the President in performing his or her duties.
B. Carry out the President's duties when the President is unable to serve.
C. Act as a liaison to scholastic chess programs.
The Secretary shall:
A. Keep minutes of all meetings.
B. Maintain the official records.
C. Be responsible for the general correspondence of the MECA
The Treasurer shall:
A. Advise the President on all financial matters.
B. Render a financial report at the annual membership meeting.
C. Collect all dues unless the Policy Board directs otherwise.
Each Director shall:
A. Work conscientiously for the success of MECA programs.
B. Represent the membership at large.
