John Bapst New Year's Tournament *Reminder*
12.26.07 Make the John Bapst New Year's Tournament a holiday tradition! Join us on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at John Bapst High School in Bangor for your first tournament chess of the new year. The tournament features four sections (Open, U1400, U1000 and U600) each with four rounds and a time control of game in forty-five minutes.

Unfortunately there are not enough players in the greater Bangor area who have over 1600 ratings to warrant two sections above 1400. As the demand arises, there will be more sections. Also most tournaments in the area raise money to support scholastic chess. Happy New Year to all and come support Bapst chess!

Tournaments without an under 1600 section turn me off as I never got over 1500 and being forced to play in the OPEN section takes away my chance at a prize and "only" makes me a $$$ contributor. Many thanks but NO thanks.
