CJA selects ChessMaine.net as Best State Website
08.17.07 The Chess Journalists of America have selected ChessMaine.net as the best state chess association website in the nation. The CJA awards, which recognize excellence in chess journalism in a number of categories, began in 1996 and have been an annual awards program since 1999. We at ChessMaine.net are humbled to receive this great honor from a leading organization of professional chess journalists.

This year the CJA presented awards in twenty-four categories including Chess Journalist of the Year, Best Book, Best Magazine, Best Newspaper Column and Most Notable Achievement in Correspondence Chess Journalism to name a few. The category of Best State Association Website was first established in 2003 and since then has been dominated by the outstanding Georgia Chess Association site georgiachess.org webmastered by Bill Noyes. In fact, georgiachess.org has won the award each year since its inception only being challenged in 2006 by the Massachusetts Chess Association's site masschess.org which received an honorable mention in that year's competition.
Congratulations to all award recipients and much appreciation to the Chess Journalists of America for recognizing and promoting high quality chess journalism.

Just a N.H. boy that likes to read about the pine tree state. I played Curdo in a simul about 45 years ago and that article was interesting . Also the Harlow Daly one. Great job Dan. Paul Dumont

It's just like chess: the only logical choice after careful analysis of all the candidate moves. Congratulations, and on behalf of the Portland CC, thanks for the excellent work and dedication to chess activities in Maine.
