Mate in One Quiz 1

Hone your skills in finding the checkmating move with these mate in one problems. When you are playing a game there won't be a "mate in one" caption under the board so it pays to always be on alert for possible moves that will end the game on the spot.

Thanks to Richard James and chesskids.com for providing the positions for the Mate in One Quiz. If the a1 and h1 squares are at the bottom of the diagram it's White's move. If the a8 and h8 squares are at the bottom of the diagram it's Black's move. Answers to these problems are all one move checkmates. Solutions are at the end of the quiz. Let us know how you do! Good Luck!
