Hi Chess Enthusiasts and Friends!
Our thanks to Coach Phillip Lowell who had plenty of good strategic tips and advice for our up-and-coming scholastic players last Saturday!
This Saturday, Falmouth Chess Coach Ron Lewis will be volunteering his time and advice. Coach Lowell says he may drop by again as well if he has the time. We are very fortunate to have two such talented individuals willing to volunteer their time to help our players!
As a reminder to any who are new to the email list, the chess club meets Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:00 on the second floor of Cape Elizabeth Community Services, in front of the Cape Elizabeth High School off Route 77. The club is open to all K-12 scholastic chess players who know how to play chess and are interested in advancing their skills to the next level. There is no cost for the club, but we do ask that parents whose children attend regularly help out by volunteering their time occasionally and helping out with snacks or drinks. There will be a sign-up sheet at the club. If you have any questions about the club, please don't hesitate to email Ilene Fishbein (ilenedan2@aol.com) or call me at 741-2568.
This week, we will be meeting down the hall to the right as you come up the stairs as there will be a cooking class taking place in our usual room.
We hope to see you there!
The club is closed the following Saturday, November 11th because the Community Center is closed that day. There are some tournaments that weekend for any who are interested:
