Upcoming Tournaments: Updated Information!

10.17.06 Two tournaments will be taking place this Saturday, October 21: The Maine Rating Floor Open/Rated Beginners Open at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland and the Washington County Chess Federation October Swiss at the Machias Valley Grange Hall in Machais. The WCCF event has had a change in venue, please make note of the updated information. We hope to see you this weekend over the board.

Washington County Chess Federation October Swiss

DATE: October 21, 2006.

FORMAT: 4 Round Swiss.

SECTIONS: K-8, time control G/45; Open, time control G/60. Other sections will be organized if entries permit (i.e. K-3, K-5, K-12)

LOCATION: Machias Valley Grange Hall, Machias, Maine. Grange Hall is on Elm Street (Rt. 92) - follow signs from west side of Bad Little Falls Bridge on US Rt. 1. Call 733-2280 for directions.

ENTRY FEE: $5. before 10/19. $10. after 10/19 or at site. --- USCF membership required for rated play (Scholastic under 13 - $15., Youth under 16 - $17., Young Adult under 25 - $23., Adult - $36. available at site - or at www.uschess.org ). If enough non-USCF entries (min. 8), an unrated novice section will be organized - state your preference before 10/19 - EF refundable if less than 8 entries. --- WCCF membership is required for this tournament ($3. Student - under 19, $10. Adult) WCCF will hold monthly Swiss tournaments at locations throughout the county, usually on the third Saturday of the month - check for details closer to actual date.

REGISTRATION: 8:00 am - 9:00 am. 1st round at 9:15, est. finish time for K-8 is 2:00 pm, est. finish time for Open is 5:00 pm.

PRIZES: Trophies, medals or certificates, depending on entries. The real payoff is getting the WCCF tournament series started!
