We're Back!

07.12.06 After a brief hiatus, due to some technical difficulties with our server, we're back online! Thanks to our web team working vampire hours over the last few days, we were able to get up and running again relatively quickly. Check out the new look of our game viewer and be on the lookout for some interesting upcoming stories.

Ray Routhier, a features writer with The Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram, examines the central question: What draws people to chess? Particularly in this age of multiple competing demands on our time, how is it that chess has remained popular? Mr. Routhier's story will appear in this week's Maine Sunday Telegram and we will provide a link to this feature article.

In addition, watch for a tribute to New England Chess Legend, Harlow B. Daly. Mr. Daly won the Maine State Championship an unprecedented seven consecutive times from 1959 to 1965. He also threw in another two wins in 1969 (sole first) and 1970 (shared with Stanley Elowitch).

Stay tuned!
