The Orono High School chess team is searching for a chess coach for the 2012-2013 season. The dates of the chess season are roughly November 1st through April 1st. Interested chess coaches should contact the principal of Orono High School, Jim Chasse, at jchasse@rsu26.org. |

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of chess enthusiast and Rockport, Maine resident James Lea, the Rockport waterfront now has a beautiful 10 foot by 10 foot chessboard and pieces overlooking Marine Park. After seeing large, public chess sets during his travels in Europe, Lea decided Rockport should have one as well. A few calls and meetings with town officials ensued and--viola!--the chess set was installed. |

Roger Morin, Lance Beloungie and Rob Shore each scored 3.0 points in four rounds to tie for first place at the Brewer Chess Tourney played on August 11, 2012 at the St. Mary's Parish School in Brewer. Steven Wong and Brian Hurst scored 1.0 point to tie for fourth. |
