The 2022 Kennebunk High School chess tournament, played on Saturday, December 10th, attracted thirty-five players in three sections: Open, U1400, and U800. Winners were Will Ravn (Open), Xander Pettis (U1400), and Abby Therriault (U800). We bring you the tournament report with crosstables.

With a nod to numerology, seventy-one (71) players turned up at the seventeenth (17) running of the Aurora Winter Solstice chess tournament in the tiny hamlet of Aurora, Maine on Saturday, December 11th. We wish to thank all who participated, organized, directed, and volunteered to make this event a great success. Here is the illustrated tournament report with US Chess crosstables.

The Maine Chess Association is accepting bid applications from schools and school chess programs for
hosting its three flagship Scholastic Championship tournaments: The Kathy Richards Maine Girls' Chess Championship, held this year on February 11, 2023; The Maine Scholastic Team Chess Championships, held this year on March 11, 2023; The Maine Scholastic Individual Chess Championships, held this year on March 18, 2023.

Hello MECA Members! It is time to elect Officers and Directors of the Maine Chess Association for the upcoming term. The members we elect this month will assume their positions on January 1, 2023, and provide leadership to MECA for one or two years, depending on position. Officers are elected for a two-year term, while Directors are elected for one year. Some candidates have chosen to submit brief statements, and those are provided below.
