Six Tie at 2009 Maine Chess Championship

A six-way tie for first place was the result at the 2009 Maine Chess Championship held at Southern Maine Community College on September 19-20. The Co-Champions are: David Plotkin (2123), Alan Schalk (2081), Roger Morin (2009), Ruben Babayan (1991), Richard Judy (1919) and Andrey Savov (1851). Lisbon Community School Seeks Competition for Chess Team

The Lisbon Community School has a scholastic chess team in grades 4-7 that is looking for other schools to compete with. Maine State Chess Championship *Reminder*

The Maine State Chess Championship will be played this weekend (September 19-20, 2009) at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. In addition to the Open section, there will also be a Rated Beginners Open section for players rated U1200. We hope to see you this weekend at one of the premier Maine chess events on the calendar.

MECA Elections 2009 and Candidate's Statements

The Maine Chess Association will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at 13 Lincoln Street in Brunswick. One of the agenda items (please see the Events link for a full agenda) will be MECA Elections and the date and method of electing executive board members and officers.
