1. f4 d5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. g3 Bg4 4. Bg2 e6 5. O-O c5 6. h3? An inaccuracy because Black hasn't castled yet, which means h7-h5-h4 ideas are still in the air with a weakened kingside. In the analysis I found a much better idea
6. c4! Normally in the Bird's White strives for the e2-e4 push, but in this weird sideline White has the ability to break down Black's pawn center quickly, in hypermodern style. The key is that here Black can't develop his Bishop to a6 or b7, so c4 won't be a vulnerable point 6... Nc6 7. Ne5
6... Bh5 7. d3 Bd6 8. Qe1?! I was trying to maintain flexibility to play e2-e4 before I commited a plan of development, but I think I needed more activity. 8.c4 is probably still fine, but with Black with an extra piece developed it's less promising now
8... Qb6 9. Kh2? I tried to remove any checks on the g1-a7 diagonal, and I chose h2 to guard the g3 pawn. Unfortunately, the king is unsturdy on the h2-b8 diagonal too, so 9.Kh1 makes more sense, although the simple 9.e4 just makes more sense
9... Nc6 10. g4? This doesn't seem like a diagonal to open considering my last move, and it also chases his Bishop to a square that guards e4. If I want to play e4 I should do it right now
10... Bg6 11. Nc3 Enticing 11...d4, giving Black a lead in development in excheange for holes on c4 and e4 for the knight, but the safer 11.Nbd2 is probablybetter
11... d4 12. Nb1 h5 13. g5 Nd5 14. Nh4 Ncb4 15. Na3 Qc7? 16. Nb5 Qd7 17. Nxd6+ Qxd6 18. Qd1 Rb8 19. a3 Nc6 20. Qe1 O-O 21. e4 dxe3 22. Bxe3 Nxe3 23. Qxe3 Nd4? Letting my get a better pawn structure with 24.Nxg6
24. Rac1? I was afraid of the line
24. Nxg6 Nxc2 Where I thought Black won a pawn, but 25.Qe5! wins
24... Nf5 25. Nxf5 Bxf5 26. Rfd1 Rfd8 27. Rd2 Qd4 28. Qxd4 Rxd4 29. Kg3? 29.Rf2 is passive, but saves White's pawn structure
29... c4 30. Rcd1 cxd3 31. cxd3 b6 32. Kf3 Rbd8 33. Ke3 f6 34. h4? 34.gxf6 gxf6 35.h4 is a lot better. After my move Black either wins a pawn or gets a passed h pawn
34... fxg5 35. fxg5?? Somehow I just completely didn't see that the pawn was hanging
35... Rxh4 36. Be4 Rg4 37. Bxf5 exf5 38. d4 Re4+ 39. Kf3 Rd5 40. Rc1 Rexd4 41. Rxd4 Rxd4 42. Rc8+?! I forgot he had h7. The immediate Rc7 is just better since the king doesn't get a free tempo
42... Kh7 43. Rc7 Rg4 44. Rxa7 h4 45. Rc7 h3 46. Rc2 Rxg5 47. Rh2 Rh5 48. a4 g5 49. b4 g4+ I think Rh6 is better, not letting my king get closer
50. Kf4 Kg6 51. a5 bxa5 52. bxa5 Rh7 53. a6 Ra7 54. Ra2 Kf6 55. Kg3 And now the draw is secured. If the Black King goes to g5 then Ra5 holds the pawns, and penetrating from the other side runs into a lot of checks
55... Ke6 56. Ra5 Kf6 57. Ra2 Ke5 58. Ra5+ Ke4 59. Ra4+ Ke3 60. Ra3+ Kd4 61. Ra5 Ke4 62. Ra4+ Ke5 63. Ra5+ Kf6 64. Ra2 Rh7 ??? He was desperate to win and had already refused several draws. but this just loses
65. a7 h2 66. a8=Q h1=Q 67. Ra6+ Ke5 68. Qb8+ Ke4 69. Qb4+ Ke5 70. Qf4+ Kd5 71. Rd6+ Kc5 72. Qd4+ Kb5 73. Rb6+ Overall, an absolutely horrible game. I don't know if it was overconfidence against a lower rated player or frustration at a poorly played opening, but I really needed to cool down here
