I think I'd
be suited to be a member of the board. Most of my qualifications are of the
informal variety: verbal exchanges and contacts with numerous chess persons. To
sum them up I would say that I have done my best, without overstraining myself,
to promote chess in Maine. When in my busy Geriatric practice in Texas I had not much time for chess. Here,
since retirement, my great love for and experience in chess have flowered. List
would include: mentoring chess at the Nathan Clifford Elementary and associated
teaching at OLLI every spring for seniors; being involved in getting at least
one place for Portland Chess Club, lasting a few yrs., and even being the
oldest tournament player I think in Orono. Perhaps
I'll think of more items such as V.P., for which post chance in the person of
you, Dan, relieved me of the burden of communicator for MECA website and giving
forth info.
