Ron,
I would like you to consider addressing the issue that no team should
constitute more than 40% of any team tournament. This has happened twice
in recent history and it makes it nearly impossible to create meaningful
pairings. When a team has nearly half the players all the other team
players are forced to face that same team each round. Limiting the
percentage would allow for the possibility of players not from the
team with 50% to face other players not from the team with 50%.
Last
year most if not all players not from DIS played a DIS player every round in
the K-3 section. I would suggest a
threshold of 40 % be set and once that is surpassed the team would be asked to
move enough players to a b- team to reduce their a- team to 35% or less of the
total players. For example last year DIS had 13 of 26 players
in the k-3 tournament. They would be allowed upto
9 players on their a-team and the remaining players could form a b team or play
novice.
I
am not suggesting this because of any inherent advantage to the team with many
players but only to allow for a more meaningful set of pairings as the rounds
advance.
Sincerely,
Edward Rudnicki
