New Chess Table Installed on Brewer Waterfront

09.06.19 A new chess table has been installed on the Brewer Riverwalk Trail thanks to the kind generosity of Steve Wong and the Creative Arts Center.

The new chess table sits on a knoll overlooking the Penobscot River and the city of Bangor.

In June of 2017, we reported on two chess tables that were installed on the Brewer Waterfront. Now, just a short walk from those tables is another stone chess table with two inlaid boards donated by longtime chess coach Steve Wong. The table is in a beautiful spot under a tree overlooking the Penobscot River and the city of Bangor. The next time you are in town, take a walk on the Brewer Riverwalk Trail and play some chess!

The original stone chess tables to appear on the Brewer Waterfront were installed at the Children's Park just downstream from the Creative Arts Center.

The tables feature a tradition design.

And they make for a very pleasant experience of playing chess in the park

Take short walk upstream from the Children's Park and you will come upon the new chess table.

The location is primo.

The new chess table design is very aesthetically pleasing with exceptional contrast.

And it includes this interesting design feature that makes playing or analyzing quite enjoyable.

A big thank you to Steve Wong, his family, and the Creative Arts Center for making this service to the community possible.
