WCCF January Swiss Tournament Report

01.22.07 The Washington County Chess Federation continues its series of monthly tournaments with the WCCF January Swiss played in Pembroke, Maine on January 20, 2007. This month, topping the Open section were Richard Look, Tarik Benabdallah and Nathaniel Simpson. In the K-8 section, the sibling team of Mary and Ezra Briggs took first and second with Brennin Consalvi placing third. Here's a brief report with USCF crosstables.

Maine's easternmost county has an active chess federation.

Richard Look outclassed the twelve player field with an unbeaten and untied 4 points in four rounds. He was followed by three players all tieing for second with 3 points. Using the tie-break system, Tarik Benabdallah took second, Nathaniel Simpson third and Nicholas Beal fourth. Mary Briggs scored 2 points to take first amongst the K-8 players. Ezra Briggs and Brennin Consalvi each scored a single point to tie for second in the K-8 section. Ezra took the second place trophy on tie-breaks.
