This Week at the George Cunningham Chess Club

10.17.06 Beginning this week, the George Cunningham Chess Club at the University of Maine, Orono, is hosting its annual club championship. The championship tournament will be a four round swiss at G45 with games played on four consecutive Wednesdays.

Come and drop by for a game (all skill ranges are welcomed!)
You can be the UMaine Chess Champion for 2006-2007!
Graduate students, as well as undergraduates, are welcome to compete in the championship
sponsored by the UMaine George Cunningham Chess Club.

First place will be the UMaine Champion with a trophy and $25 prize.
Runnerup will receive a trophy and a $10 prize.
The second runnerup will receive a trophy and a $5 prize.

The UMaine championship begins Wednesday, October 18 at 8 pm in the Bumps room of the Memorial Union.
There will be four rounds with a time limit of 45 minutes for each. One round will be played each
week. USCF membership is not required. If both
players agree, then the match can be rescheduled for another time and place. However, the game
must be completed before the next Wednesday's scheduled game. The entrance fee is $5.

The UMaine Chess Championship will be directed by Tom Sandford , USCF certified local tournament director.
